WEB SITES CAN COLLECT YOUR PERSONAL INFO

WEB SITES SHOULD HAVE TO ALERT YOU IF THEY ARE COLLECTING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION. I DONT KNOW ANYONE WHO WOULD BE OK WITH SOMEONE TAKING SOMETHING WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION. AT THE START OF THE SEMESTER WE DID A LITTLE SEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND A SITE WHERE YOU CAN LITERALLY BUY YOUR INFORMATION AND EVERYONE ELSES. EVERYTHING FROM NUMBERS TO FAMILY MEMBERS WAS ON THERE. I BELIEVE YOU COULD EVEN BUY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS (IM NOT SURE ABOUT THAT ONE). WHO WANTS THAT?!? IF SOMEONE NEEDS MY INFORMATION, THEY SHOULD HAVE TO EMAIL ME, CALL ME, WRITE ME A LETTER OR COME TALK TO ME IN PERSON AND ASK ME. OR ATLEAST ALERT ME OF WHEN AND WHAT INFO OF MINE YOU ARE USING AND COLLECTING. IN CONCLUSION, YES, WEB SITES SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO TELL YOU IF THEY ARE COLLECTING YOUR INFORMATION.

Is there a place for social networking sites at work?

I believe there is a place for social networking sites at work. Myspace, twitter and facebook are the most popular. In our computer fundamentals class last week we did a little experiment with twitter. The teacher sent our "we're in *** room, Come on down!" and sure enough ten people came on down. It would be easy to type something on a social network for all to see and you could relay the important information in seconds. Many people have these sites linked to cell phone text messaging. You could be in trouble at work and write a message on twitter and someone completely away from you can come to save the day. It could really come in handy.
But on the other hand you have the people that abuse the power. These people get on every few minutes just to talk about the mall, flowers, bacon strips or whatever is on their mind (not work related). This can slow them down at the workplace and make them very unproductive.
All in all the good outways the bad in my eyes. And in this day and age we have more and more people logging on to these networking sites. If it gets out of hand i can see why employers might outlaw these sites but untill that wave sweeps the nation, we might as well take advantage of this technology.

do all computers need operating systems?

Well the answer to this glorious question is... not really. I mean you cannot really do much without an operating system so your hardware would pretty much be worthless.  The operating system manages all the applications and tools on your computer. Without it you would be staring at a blank screen. All computers use an operating system. Even video game consoles, cell phones, PDA's and some tv's have operating systems. Windows is the most widely used on desktops and laptop style computers. I guess the real question is, do you want a computer that works? then the answer is yes, it does need an operating system.
